Chapter Eleven: Yi Zhonghai Went to Find Director Wang
Early the next morning, Yi Zhonghai arrived at the rolling mill and waited outside Wang Lin’s office for him to arrive. When he saw Wang Lin holding Qin Huairu affectionately, openly displaying their love without any sign of being at work, Yi Zhonghai, asserting his seniority, began to scold them.
“Wang Lin, Qin Huairu, what are you doing? This is a rolling mill! How can you be fooling around in public like this? Have you no sense of decency?”
Without Wang Lin saying a word, Qin Huairu was already displeased with this elder Yi Zhonghai.
“We’re husband and wife. What’s wrong with showing some affection? The government doesn’t mind, so why should you?”
Yi Zhonghai hadn’t expected that before Wang Lin could even respond, this country bumpkin would start scolding him.
“You, you, what are you, an outsider, doing at the rolling mill?”
Yi Zhonghai was so angry that he stumbled over his words. Knowing his earlier words were unreasonable, he pointed at Qin Huairu and demanded to know why she was at the rolling mill.
“I’m Brother Lin’s secretary. What, you don’t want me to work here? Get lost.”
Qin Huairu roughly pulled Yi Zhonghai aside.
In recent days, Qin Huairu had become Wang Lin’s woman and had cultivated the “Light and Shadow Harmonizing Technique.” Not only did she enjoy herself daily, but her cultivation also improved. Now, she was no ordinary person but an immortal capable of eternal life.
Though Yi Zhonghai was a level 8 fitter with considerable strength, he was no match for Qin Huairu, a cultivator, and she easily overpowered him, pulling him to the ground.
“Old man, are you trying to extort me?”
It wasn’t surprising Qin Huairu reacted this way; she was still unclear about her own strength.
Yi Zhonghai was flustered but didn’t think much of it. After all, Qin Huairu came from the countryside, where hard physical labor was common, so having great strength was normal.
“Who’s extorting you? I just didn’t expect your strength to be so great, and you accidentally fell.”
Yi Zhonghai defended himself.
He was a moral paragon, an elder respected by all. This persona was hard-earned, and he didn’t want it to crumble because of this incident.
“Deputy Director Wang, look at your wife; she’s a complete violent maniac.”
Though not seriously hurt, Yi Zhonghai stood up and, instead of arguing with Qin Huairu, he confronted Wang Lin.
“Deputy Director Wang, listen to me. Divorce her, and I’ll find you someone better…”
Hearing this, Qin Huairu grew fearful.
Since following Wang Lin, she had lived a life like an immortal.
Lately, after their dual cultivation, her skin had become softer, her demeanor more elegant and beautiful, and most importantly, she could live forever.
Before, Qin Huairu wanted to marry into the city just to avoid hunger. Now, she didn’t just want to be well-fed; she wanted to eat whatever she pleased.
Thinking of the endless delicacies in the Shadow Realm, Qin Huairu almost drooled.
But what worried her more was whether Wang Lin would actually listen to Yi Zhonghai and reject her.
Her rural background always made her feel insecure.
Sensing Qin Huairu’s unease, Wang Lin gently took her hand, pulled her into his embrace, and with the other hand, struck Yi Zhonghai across the face.
“She’s my wife. Who do you think you are to say otherwise?”
Yi Zhonghai dared not resist but secretly harbored resentment.
“Just you wait. Once I get the letter of forgiveness, I’ll go to Director Wang at the community office and have you kicked out of the courtyard.”
Yi Zhonghai didn’t realize Wang Lin could sense his inner thoughts. If he knew, he would surely be terrified.
As for the letter of forgiveness regarding Jia Dongxu, Yi Zhonghai was indifferent.
Wang Lin opened the door and led Qin Huairu inside the office.
Seeing this, Yi Zhonghai quickly spoke up.
“Deputy Director Wang, look, Jia Dongxu has already suffered enough these days. Since everyone’s neighbors now, could you please issue a letter of forgiveness for him?”
“I’ll listen to my wife on this matter. If she says yes, then it’s settled.”
Hearing Wang Lin’s words, Yi Zhonghai’s expression faltered.
He had just provoked Qin Huairu and even suggested Wang Lin divorce her. Clearly, the letter of forgiveness was out of reach.
What he didn’t know was that Qin Huairu felt both guilt and gratitude toward Jia Dongxu.
If not for being introduced by Matchmaker Wang and going on that arranged meeting with Jia Dongxu, she wouldn’t have met such a good husband in Wang Lin.
In a way, Jia Dongxu was their matchmaker in disguise.
“Brother Lin, please write the letter of forgiveness for Jia Dongxu. What do you think?”
Qin Huairu was clever. Though she now had no relation with Jia Dongxu, they had been set up for a blind date before.
She cared about what men thought and didn’t want Wang Lin to misunderstand, even though Wang Lin said she could decide.
Wang Lin lowered his head and gently kissed Qin Huairu’s lips, smiling as he spoke.
“Silly wife, I’m not so petty. Since you want to give Jia Dongxu a letter of forgiveness, I’ll write it right now.”
Qin Huairu’s decision pleased Wang Lin greatly, and there was a reason he let her take charge.
Cultivation was about refining the heart. Since Qin Huairu was someone he had taken away from another, he had no inner demons, but she might.
When she saw Jia Dongxu, she felt deep guilt and remorse.
“Hmm, husband, you’re the best to me.”
Qin Huairu tightly embraced Wang Lin’s arm, gently swaying it. The softness of her touch made Wang Lin feel so good he wanted to keep her with him forever.
“Come in. I’ll write the letter of forgiveness for you now.”
Yi Zhonghai was at a loss. He had given up hope but didn’t expect Qin Huairu to agree so readily.
“Thank you,” he finally said after a long pause.
His thanks delighted Qin Huairu, and her happiness made Wang Lin happy.
In his past life, Wang Lin had been single for over thirty years. Now, with such a beautiful wife, he naturally wanted to cherish her.
Wang Lin wrote swiftly and soon tossed the letter of forgiveness to Yi Zhonghai.
“Here, take the letter. Now get out of here and don’t disturb me while I’m working.”
With the letter in hand, Yi Zhonghai fled. However, instead of going directly to the police station, he first went to Director Yang’s office.
But after a short while, he was dejectedly kicked out by Director Yang.
With the letter of forgiveness, Jia Dongxu was released.
But the two did not return to the courtyard; instead, they headed to the community office.
“Is Director Wang here?”
As soon as he arrived, Yi Zhonghai asked.
“He’s here. Down this hall, second door from the end.”
“Alright, thank you.”
Excited, Yi Zhonghai and Jia Dongxu entered Director Wang’s office. Used to swaggering in the courtyard, they didn’t even knock and just pushed the door open.
