Chapter 25: Returning It to You
This time, it was Xu Yancheng’s turn to laugh. “So, in the end, you just want to check my phone, right? Tell me, Lin Lu, what gives you the right?” Lin Lu glanced at her phone to check the time. “Young Master Xu, if you keep dragging this out, your girlfriend will start to worry.” Xu Yancheng frowned, clearly reluctant, and tossed his phone to her. “Be sensible. Don’t snoop through things you shouldn’t see, understand?”
“Relax, I have no interest in your business.” Lin Lu took the phone and immediately started going through the files. After checking everything, she found nothing unusual. Even if she still felt uneasy, she had no choice but to return the phone.
Xu Yancheng snatched his phone back and left at once, as if spending even one more second with her was an affront to himself.
“Wait.” Lin Lu called out to him.
Xu Yancheng turned back impatiently. Lin Lu walked over and slapped a velvet box against his chest. “Returning this to you.”
But before she could turn away, Xu Yancheng’s large hand swept the box straight into the nearby trash can.
Lin Lu paused for a moment but didn’t linger. She turned and walked off in the other direction.
She didn’t leave immediately, as she suddenly felt like riding a few laps around the racetrack. So, she went to the locker room to change into her riding gear.
When Lin Lu appeared on the field again, she was once more the center of attention.
Su Yi simply couldn’t outshine her.
Though both women were beauties and their stage makeup equally impressive, Su Yi’s versatility was limited; only a few styles suited her, and she lacked that breathtaking allure. Lin Lu, on the other hand, could captivate the entire room with any look. She could be sweet, charming, pure, or wild—each one a different face of beauty, each one stunning in its own way.
As Lin Lu galloped across the field, her hair streamed behind her like seaweed, untamed and wild.
Zhou Ruikang was dumbstruck.
The last time Lin Lu had come, she’d been nothing like this—delicate and gentle, eliciting everyone’s sympathy. Xu Mingchuan could hardly handle her then, Zhou Ruikang thought.
Xu Yancheng narrowed his eyes, watching her silhouette.
At that moment, Su Yi quickly stepped in front of him, blocking his view. “I’m tired, darling. Come rest with me over there.” Only then did Xu Yancheng look away and escort Su Yi off the field.
After two laps, Lin Lu felt much better. She went to the locker room, took a shower, changed, and returned to the dormitory. Perhaps it was the exhaustion, but she slept deeply and sweetly that night.
By nine in the evening, while the other dance students had long since returned to their dorms, Lin Lu was still practicing alone in the vast dance studio.
She’d been working incredibly hard lately.
After finishing a challenging move, she paused to glance at her phone, then switched it to silent mode. Ten more minutes, she thought.
Yuan Ruoxia rushed in from the dormitory, out of breath. “Lin Lu! Stop practicing and check Weibo—you’re trending!”
Lin Lu stopped, wiped the sweat from her brow, and remained unruffled. “Is it another fan war with Su Yi’s supporters?”
“This time… it’s not that…” Yuan Ruoxia hesitated, unsure how to explain, and finally just handed her phone over.
The first thing Lin Lu saw was a series of photos taken outside the restroom at the International Mall. The photos meticulously documented Xu Yancheng entering, then both of them leaving separately, all accompanied by suggestive captions—“Xu Yancheng and Lin Lu: Restroom Battle Confirmed.”
Only then did she realize that not only her name but also Xu Yancheng’s was trending at the top.
In just half an hour after the post went up, it had already been shared nearly ten thousand times.
At first, the comments were relatively friendly, with everyone asking if Xu Yancheng and Lin Lu were dating. But then Su Yi’s fans erupted, declaring Su Yi as Xu Yancheng’s official girlfriend and painting Lin Lu as a shameless homewrecker.
