Stormblade!
The forge was used to reforge the sword, a rather complex matter. For an ordinary master smith, this would be a difficult task to accomplish. But for Chenfeng, who had reforged swords several times before, it was no problem at all.
Within the furnace, the heat was oppressive, unbearable for most people. Yet, for a sword that might reach the level of an epic, Chenfeng was willing to endure the hardship once more. Inside the sweltering heat of sixty degrees, he gripped the sword’s fragments, quenching and reshaping them, fusing them together. This was a repeated, painstaking process—if the fusion failed, all the fragments might be reduced to dust.
“Busy! If you’ve got something to say, make it quick!” Lin Shanshan suddenly sent a call request. Chenfeng had rejected it several times, but she kept trying, so thinking it might be urgent, he answered. If she suddenly barged into his room and took off his gaming helmet herself, it would be even more troublesome.
“You’re already level thirty—come help us level up! We’re progressing so slowly!” Lin Shanshan hadn’t expected Chenfeng to make such a difference; now, the group’s leveling speed couldn’t compare to his alone.
“I’m busy! You have the Twin-Headed Wyvern and the Demon Little Wyvern—how could you be slow at leveling? I’m synthesizing a weapon here; I’ll join you when I have time!” Chenfeng knew those two divine beasts were no match for him. If they could rival him, he might as well delete his character.
Chenfeng’s value far exceeded that of two divine beasts. With his explosive power, mob-pulling ability, and recovery, he was unmatched. Besides, the others weren’t skilled enough at handling their beasts—how could they pull mobs efficiently?
“The two beasts can’t pull enough mobs! Their killing speed is slow, and they don’t attract many creatures. I’m busy healing and running around—it’s a hassle. You coming over would be much faster! Hurry up, we need to reach level thirty!” Lin Shanshan saw Chenfeng had reached level thirty and wanted the same. She’d originally thought the divine beasts would be more formidable than him, but in his presence, they seemed utterly useless.
“I need a one-handed sword right now. Once I finish forging this weapon, I’ll be right there, otherwise my speed won’t be as fast. Just thirty minutes…” Chenfeng quickly ended the call, fearing Lin Shanshan would keep pestering him and interfere with his reforging.
An hour later, his communicator rang again. This time, Chenfeng didn’t answer, knowing it was Lin Shanshan. While he continued to smelt his weapon, a message appeared: “If you don’t answer, I’ll kick down your door and take off your helmet.”
Good heavens!
Chenfeng fully believed Lin Shanshan would do just that, so he quickly called her back. “I’m at the final stage—just wait a bit longer!”
“Chenfeng, we can’t do this without you! Our leveling speed is slow and it’s downright annoying. If you don’t come soon, I’ll kick down your door and take off your helmet!” Lin Shanshan was used to being carried by Chenfeng; she rarely had to do anything but sweep up loot. The money she collected she kept for herself, and the best gear could be stored or deposited in the guild warehouse.
Now you know you can’t do without me! Now you realize how important I am! Why not offer yourself in gratitude?
Chenfeng felt a little smug and said, “Shanshan, can you wait a little longer? I only have one weapon right now. Even if I come over, I won’t be able to kill as quickly as before. Give me thirty minutes—when I finish this weapon, I guarantee your leveling speed will double!”
“Double? Really?” Lin Shanshan sat on the beach, watching the Twin-Headed Wyvern and her friends Cheng Xue and Zhang Xinting slay monsters, feeling bored. When Chenfeng was around, the beach was strewn with murloc corpses, and she was too busy sweeping up loot. After every leveling session, she had a little stash of gold, which felt wonderful. Now, not only did she have to heal, she couldn’t even pick up items, making everything more exhausting and leaving her without the thrill of collecting treasures.
“Wait for me, I’ll be there soon. Contact me if anything comes up!” Chenfeng continued smelting his weapon. He’d already fused several fragments together; only the final step remained—joining the blade and the hilt.
Another hour passed, and Lin Shanshan called again. This time, Chenfeng didn’t dare ignore her. He quickly said, “I’m just one step away from finishing my weapon—let me send you a screenshot. Really, just give me thirty more minutes…”
“You already said thirty minutes before, now it’s been an hour. Are you coming or not?” Lin Shanshan was annoyed; she’d been waiting for Chenfeng for two hours. She was used to making others wait, never the other way around. And now she had to keep waiting.
“I sent you the screenshot—it’s really just one last step. This time, I might forge a legendary weapon! Don’t do anything rash, just wait. This time it’ll definitely be done in thirty minutes. When have I ever lied to you?” Chenfeng was genuinely worried Lin Shanshan would take off his gaming helmet; if he failed the smelting, it would be a disaster.
“You just lied to me twice!” Lin Shanshan wished she could kick Chenfeng; he’d lied twice already and still claimed he never lied.
Chenfeng was feeling a bit muddled. “Just wait a bit longer, I’ll finish soon. Try to find a leveling spot for levels thirty-five to forty. I feel so powerful now—I should be able to kill monsters above my level!”
“Really? Then I’ll keep waiting, but if you—”
Lin Shanshan was excited, but finished with another threat, which Chenfeng quickly interrupted, “Hurry and look, preferably somewhere by the sea, with monsters like murlocs—high attack, low defense, and no control skills! I won’t talk anymore, I need to focus!”
Chenfeng wasn’t often threatened. Normally, he could ignore Lin Shanshan’s words, but now, at a crucial stage of forging, an unexpected disconnection would be disastrous. He truly believed that busty, brainless Lin Shanshan would actually take off his helmet, and there’d be nothing he could do about it.
After nearly three hours of smelting, Chenfeng finally succeeded. Before him lay a one-handed sword with a pale blue blade. The crossguard was shaped like a dragon’s open maw, the entire sword radiating a blue glow—more dazzling than any epic weapon. The sword wasn’t quite finished; Chenfeng took out the white gold coins from his pack, melted them into a platinum sheen, and coated the blade. This concealed the marks of fusion, making it more beautiful and durable, and improving its final attributes.
White gold coins were incredibly useful; now, Chenfeng had used up all three he possessed. Nearly any high-end equipment synthesis or smelting required white gold coins. He wished he had a few more—luckily, he hadn't traded them for cash earlier, or he'd be in trouble now.

“Epic weapon, its effects rival the legendary Brotherhood Sword, and it can even conjure an off-hand sword?” Chenfeng was overjoyed. Not only did it look dazzling, glowing blue, but it also boosted lightning attacks—tailor-made for him. Because he could conjure a one-handed sword with 90% of the main weapon’s attributes, he could keep the legendary Brotherhood Sword in reserve.
Even with just 90% attributes, this sword’s damage far exceeded that of the Brotherhood Sword. Plus, it boosted lightning attacks, critical hits, and splash slow effects—a weapon made for quests!
“Did you find a spot yet? I’m heading over!” Chenfeng wasn’t in a rush to enter the main map; he still needed to train the four little bat creatures he recruited today.
