Chapter 14: Simply Willful
Hehehe!
The next day, a news report from an island nation revealed a series of mysterious thefts. So far, the victims included the XX Department Store, XX Supermarket, XX Pharmaceutical Company... In total, over thirty companies and enterprises had their entire inventories vanish overnight from both storefronts and warehouses. The audacity of the thieves was staggering; they left no clues behind. Authorities were working tirelessly to solve the case.
The island’s most notorious militaristic families, once revered for their nationalistic fervor, were utterly stripped bare: not only were their properties untouchable, but even the underwear of the men and women sleeping inside their homes were taken without exception. These people were left with nothing to cover themselves, as curtains had been stolen too, and not a single square of toilet paper remained. It was as if everything had been swept clean, leaving onlookers feeling a deep sense of pity.
What pained these family heads most was that all munitions stored in secret locations and warehouses were stolen as well!
This phenomenon was not confined to the island alone. In other countries, families who upheld militaristic or Nazi ideologies also found themselves targeted by this mysterious wave. In essence, everything that could be taken—except for houses and people—was taken.
As a result, many of these once-powerful families lost their foundations entirely, reduced to common citizens overnight.
Mu Tong watched the footage secretly recorded by Xiao Qiang and burst into laughter: those who sought to invade others had lost all their assets and stockpiles of weapons—how could they continue bullying anyone? Especially those who were scheming to take advantage of her hometown—there was no mercy for them.
What could she do? She had the ability to come and go freely, to steal without being discovered, so why not indulge herself a little?
Of course, she didn’t keep any of their underwear or such items. She had long since thrown those things into the sea to feed the fish, just to ensure they received nothing.
Mu Tong lay in the branches of a lush tree, using her spiritual sense to organize the various supplies she had gathered in recent days: weapons piled in one group, food in another, clothing, medicine, gold bars, jewelry, antiques, daily necessities, electronics—all separated neatly.
These supplies were not only what she had stolen, but also goods she had purchased in bulk after exchanging different countries’ currencies she had acquired. From tiny nail clippers and infant formula to planes, cars, and gasoline—everything was accounted for.
She had spent every last penny of those currencies; none remained. The money held little value to her directly, so she bought many decent items. She didn’t need them herself, but her parents, older brother and sister-in-law, and nephew could use them.
Thinking of her family, Mu Tong raised an eyebrow: in just a few days, it would be her nephew’s birthday. She definitely wanted to return home to see them and celebrate Xiao Shenghan’s birthday. And of course, everyone would receive a gift!
Mu Tong smiled. She still had plenty of precious metals in her storage space to forge a pair of couple’s rings for her parents; for her brother, a masculine ring; for her sister-in-law, a storage bracelet; and the same kind of bracelet for Xiao Shenghan.
These storage items, once forged, would emit no spiritual energy fluctuations. Even if someone from the cultivation world happened to see them, they would reveal nothing. She planned to put everyone’s gifts inside these storage devices.
After all, some truths would inevitably come to light sooner or later. She couldn’t be with them forever; some preparations had to be made early. Of course, even though these items were ready, she would wait for the right moment to reveal them. Mu Tong would impose seals on these storage devices so that only when certain conditions were met would they unlock and reveal some of the truth to her family.
Having made these plans, Mu Tong summoned her sword and flew back to the ranch, entering the wooden cabin area she had built. There was a dedicated forge room where she began concentrating on crafting.
Three days later, Mu Tong examined the storage devices she had forged for her family with satisfaction. The designs were simple and understated, exquisitely crafted with no trace of spiritual energy. Once each family member bled on their respective item to claim it, no one else could take it from them.
She carefully placed the items she had selected into each storage device before stepping out of the cabin feeling content.
After giving Xiao Qiang some final instructions, Mu Tong produced a teleportation scroll. A flash of light later, she appeared in her bedroom.
???
The person sleeping soundly on the bed—was that Kai?
Mu Tong chuckled softly: who else could have entered? Besides Shen Kai, no one could get in. She had placed numerous protections on the room—no petty thief, not even an international criminal, could breach it. Anyone daring to force their way in would be risking serious injury or death.
Only Shen Kai possessed the enchanted key she gave him, allowing safe entry. If the key were stolen by someone else, it would not open the door.
She walked quietly to the bedside, gazing at Shen Kai’s sleeping face and gently inhaled his scent: still so fresh, so pure and clean, with no trace of any other woman’s fragrance—just like when they first met.
Her spiritual sense flicked to a secret mark she had placed on him: good, it was still there.
That mark served only one purpose: if Shen Kai ever slept with another woman, the mark would vanish.
Its disappearance meant Mu Tong would part ways with him. Whether she still loved him or not, if Shen Kai had another woman, she would choose to let go. Since the beginning of their relationship, she had said: she would never share him with anyone. But if he fell for someone else or wanted to marry and have children, she would release him.
She could not provide those things for him, but she would not selfishly prevent him from having them forever.
“Back?” Shen Kai opened his eyes. He had waited anxiously in the room for three days, finally seeing her return.
“Mm, I’m back.”
Shen Kai pulled Mu Tong into his embrace and showered her with passionate kisses. It had been so long since he had smelled her scent, tasted her sweetness. Now he intended to savor it fully.
They tumbled together on the bed, and after their tender lovemaking, the morning had long turned into night.
They bathed together, changed into robes, and then lay back down side by side.
“Here, for you.” Mu Tong picked up an earring and placed it on Shen Kai’s ear. She ‘accidentally’ pricked his ear, drawing a drop of blood onto the earring.
“Does it hurt?” Mu Tong asked carefully.
“No, it doesn’t.” Shen Kai didn’t even frown. It was the first gift Mu Tong had ever given him. Even if she hurt his ear a few more times, his heart would still be sweet.
Mu Tong smiled happily. That earring was also one of the storage devices she had forged. After completing the sets for her family, she had thought of Shen Kai and, almost on a whim, forged a silver earring for him.
Inside the earring, she placed some things she thought Shen Kai might need. Even if he didn’t use them now, perhaps his sons or grandsons might in the future. Of course, it would only activate under certain conditions—once one was met, it could be opened.
