Lu Xi shrugged with a serious expression. “Humans and rabbits can’t get married.”

The white rabbit scoffed, “As if we want to be with you.”

If it weren’t for that person’s ruthless coercion, they wouldn’t have come to wade into this mess.

“Are you coming or not?” the gray rabbit glared at Lu Xi.

Lu Xi remained silent.

Suddenly, blood trickled from the corner of the gray rabbit’s eye as it stared intently at her.

Lu Xi yawned lazily. It was the same old trick; aside from bleeding eyes, couldn’t the NPCs here come up with something fresher?

The girl simply closed her eyes.

The two ignored rabbits were furious, shouting wildly in place, “Are you even a qualified player?!”

Lu Xi: “No.”

The rabbits: “...”

The two talking rabbits exchanged a glance, then their bodies began to inflate and change shape like balloons.

Before Lu Xi’s eyes, they grew larger and larger until they towered over her.

Lu Xi’s eyes widened. “My goodness, rabbits that are 1.8 meters tall?!”

The white rabbit moved its three-part mouth. “Knock her out.”

The gray rabbit nodded solemnly.

“Hey, hey, hey… you guys!”

Darkness engulfed Lu Xi’s vision as she fainted.

In an unnoticed corner, a massive rabbit dashed swiftly through the darkness.

On its back lay an unconscious human girl.

Inside Muguan Village, the players were confused.

They had expected Lu Xi, a useless player, to not survive until dawn, and the village chief to return soon.

But as everyone anxiously prepared to face the situation, they found the village eerily silent.

Even the NPC villagers who had previously come for their lives had vanished.

What they did not know was that the village chief, missing half of his face, was trembling in fear at that moment.

The ancient castle exuded a deathly stillness.

Not long ago, after Lu Xi fell into the old well, the village chief grabbed a lantern and was about to descend after her, when suddenly a large, cold hand gripped the back of his neck.

A familiar... and long-forgotten aura emanated.

Afterwards, the surroundings changed drastically.

What could terrify even spirits and monsters?

Something far more dreadful than demons.

The village chief lowered his head halfway, eyes fixed only on his toes, too afraid to look up.

The poor NPC recalled—it was that presence returning.

Page 2/3

The very first... original players of this world.

And the only survivor among them.

No, perhaps he could no longer be called a “player,” for he had long since shed that identity... becoming indistinguishable from them.

On the throne, a man stepped down the stairs. Candlelight flickered around him, outlining his slender figure and lean waist.

His build was not that of a mighty muscle-bound giant, yet it carried a far more oppressive aura.

Ji Chenling raised his hand, his long fingers lightly resting on the village chief’s shoulder, a lazy smile playing on his lips.

“Which hand hurt her?”

The village chief, sensing his anger, was dumbfounded.

He had said nothing when that girl had cut off half his head, yet now the “King” was coming to settle the score over a mere scratch on her neck?!

Where was the justice?

Everyone knew that the “King” in this game world had once been an ordinary player many years ago.

But at some point, the seemingly normal player had gone mad.

He was far more sinister and terrifying than any monster, brutal and cruel, always smiling while slaughtering humans and ghosts alike.

“Crack!”

The village chief’s neck snapped as Ji Chenling twisted it barehanded, then casually tossed the head aside.

“Get lost.”

The humiliated village chief cautiously stepped forward to pick up his head.

But in the next moment...

With a “pop,” his head was crushed underfoot.

The village chief dared not protest and drifted away sorrowfully.

The “King” had a terrible temper—violent and irritable. The fact he hadn’t thrown the chief into the punishment space was already quite generous.

Ji Chenling’s slender fingers softly stroked the candlestick, eyes gleaming with amusement. “Sister, long time no see.”

It was time to pay a visit.

...

When Lu Xi awoke, clutching her head, she was immediately shocked by her surroundings.

The scene before her could only be described as a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood.

Bodies littered the ground—both human and animal.

The two giant rabbits who had kidnapped her had disappeared.

Lu Xi climbed up from the scorched earth and began to retch.

Before crossing over, she had been an ordinary girl who wouldn’t even dare to kill a chicken or duck. No matter how many times she faced such bloody scenes, she could not suppress the nausea and dread in her heart.

Covering her mouth, she retched while carefully stepping around the corpses and moving forward.

She silently thought to herself that she was clearly not destined to be a grand heroine.

After walking for less than ten minutes, an even more shocking sight appeared.

On both sides of the road stood countless cages, large enough to hold several people inside.

Lu Xi was stunned by what she saw.

There were people inside the cages, along with ghost NPCs and some deranged creatures whose nature was unclear.

She circled around and noticed the sky was blood red—no clouds, no sun, no moon.

Around her stretched endless rows of black cages. Some wailed, others wept, and many sat numb with vacant eyes, like walking corpses.

It was utterly terrifying, and she shivered.

Was this hell?

“Wuwu...”

Lu Xi’s ears twitched; the sound was oddly familiar.

She tightened her cloak and nervously shone her flashlight over, unexpectedly spotting a familiar face.

“Meng Yuanyuan?!” Lu Xi exclaimed.

How was she here? Had she also been kidnapped by those giant rabbits like her?

Hearing her name called out, tear-streaked Meng Yuanyuan suddenly lifted her head.

“Lu... Lu Xi?”

She broke down in tears.

“Help! Lu Xi, please save me...”

Meng Yuanyuan was locked inside a cage, but there was no visible lock securing it.

“How can I get you out?” Lu Xi asked, stepping closer.

Meng Yuanyuan shook her head, still sobbing.

“I’ll see if I can find something to use as a tool,” Lu Xi said.

“No... don’t go, wuwu... I’m scared,” Meng Yuanyuan gasped between sobs.

“I’m not leaving. I’m just going to look for a tool to help you. You see, I have nothing on me. I can’t just pry it open with my hands.”

Even with her hands, she couldn’t force it open.

Lu Xi had no mighty strength skills.

Seeing Meng Yuanyuan on the verge of collapse from extreme tension, she sighed. “If you’re scared, let’s chat, okay?”

While searching, she tried to keep the conversation going with Meng Yuanyuan.

“How did you get in here?”

Meng Yuanyuan sobbed, “This is the punishment space. I was cursed in the previous dungeon world, so at a certain point, I’m dragged into the punishment space.”

“You’re an old player too... didn’t you know this?”

Lu Xi shook her head.

Punishment space? Curse?

Could Ji Chenling’s sudden disappearance also be because of a curse?
