Volume One, Chapter 14: Striking It Rich!
Ye Qinghan watched the weary figure slowly make her way toward the sleeping chamber, unable to suppress a pang of sympathy. Her master was merely a mortal without cultivation, so it was natural to feel exhausted after a day and night without rest. That was why she had been practicing with the sword in the courtyard, waiting for her.
The Lingxian Hall had many vacant rooms. Following her master’s instructions, Ye Qinghan casually chose one to serve as a storage room, tossing in a sack full of heavenly materials and treasures, along with a storage ring. Although her master had said she could keep anything she liked, what was she lacking now?
She carried dozens of supreme immortal-grade magical weapons and was equipped with three innate treasures. With such gear, she could conquer the world! Why bother with these scraps of metal and broken trinkets?
It was simply to avoid returning empty-handed and to please her master. Moreover, though she didn’t fully understand why, her master seemed able to use these lower-grade treasures to forge even better items for her. So she might as well keep them.
While her master went to rest, Ye Qinghan washed and put away the vegetables she had bought on the way. She planned to visit the Spirit Pool Hall to cleanse and scent her master’s clothes. Although the clothes gifted to her were all immortal-grade, her master usually wore ordinary garments, which required hand washing.
Seeing her master asleep, Ye Qinghan quietly retrieved the stolen robe from the sleeping chamber and hurried to the Spirit Pool Hall. After washing and placing the robe in a scented compartment, she looked around but could not find what she sought. Glancing back at the freshly cleaned robe, she felt reluctant to part with it.
“Master, really… why not take a bath and change clothes before sleeping?” she muttered, unaware that her reputation as a living hellion had already spread throughout the cultivation world.
But Ye Qinghan didn’t mind; after all, there was still the Liu family. Next time she visited them, she would have to be careful—not to use the Demon-Sealing Stele again, since it had smashed all the treasures she brought!
Having done all this, Ye Qinghan planned to rest but found she couldn’t sleep without her master’s scent on the bed. Tossing and turning, she even considered sneaking into her master’s room to take a piece of clothing.
Her master was asleep; surely she wouldn’t notice if Ye Qinghan crept in quietly? But she dared not take the risk. Though her master had no cultivation, who knew if some trap or array was set in the room to catch intruders? If caught, how could she explain herself? She’d rather confess to an assassination attempt than be deemed a rebellious disciple.
Pacing the courtyard nervously, Ye Qinghan ultimately did not enter. With only two people in Lingxian Hall and nothing to do without her master, she settled beneath a tree to cultivate.
By the time Su Cheng awoke, it was already afternoon. Seeing Ye Qinghan cultivating, he didn’t disturb her and went to collect the magical weapons.
This time, Su Cheng truly felt the flush of newfound wealth—over three hundred thousand system points had come in! He quickly lay back in his rattan chair and opened the system store to start shopping.
“Immortal realm training dummies? Arrange them for Qinghan!”
“Blank jade slips? Ten for Qinghan!”
“Is Qinghan about to establish a foundation? Prepare all the heavenly materials needed for foundation building for my precious Qinghan!”
“Low, novice, intermediate, advanced, legendary, mythic?”
“Who’s looking down on whom? My dear Qinghan must have mythic grade!”
Su Cheng’s mind made up, he confirmed the payment.
“Spent 150,000 system points to purchase the Mythic Foundation Material Set.”
“Mythic Foundation Set (Ye Qinghan) [Expression] 1.”
Su Cheng clicked his tongue in admiration; the system was always meticulous about this.
“Heh, my disciple, you must use the best to establish your foundation!”
Ye Qinghan cultivated nearby, overhearing her master’s slightly proud thoughts, her heart stirred.
She didn’t understand the foundation set, but she understood her master—if he chose it, it was undoubtedly the best.
Listening to her master talk about upgrading Lingxian Hall, preparing heavenly materials, and even various pills for emergencies, Ye Qinghan completed a full cycle of cultivation before rising softly to greet him. Her eyes brimmed with overflowing affection.
“Master.”
“Hm, you did well this time.”
“Relieving your burden, master.”
One by one, Ye Qinghan took out her master’s magical weapons, placing them neatly on the hall’s table.
“Master entrusted me with 37 offensive weapons, 20 defensive ones, cloaks, soft armors, life-saving elixirs, and other treasures—73 items in total, all kept close. Now I return them to you.”
“No need to return them. Your master no longer requires external items,” Su Cheng said helplessly, feigning indifference since he truly didn’t need them.
“Heh, you return them to your master, but your master can’t use them...”
“Qinghan appreciates your grace and dares not seek more. Such immortal treasures carried at all times might be lost.”
“In that case, place them in the Wanyue Pavilion. If needed, you can summon them anytime with the jade pendant I gave you as my personal disciple.”
Su Cheng gestured toward a tower behind the main hall, resembling a demon-locking tower.
“What? When did Lingxian Hall get a tower like this?” Ye Qinghan blinked, her fox-like eyes wide.
Suddenly recalling her master’s earlier thought of upgrading Lingshuang Hall, she realized this must be it.
So, she could use her master’s treasures anytime?
Ye Qinghan thought that if the world knew how many treasures her master possessed, everyone would compete to become her disciple. Even immortals would envy her treatment.
Following her master’s instructions, Ye Qinghan placed all the treasures inside, except for the Chaos Bell. She tried the sword case and Lingshuang Sword as well, but they wouldn’t fit.
“Master, I put all the treasures inside except the Chaos Bell.”
“No matter, just place it by my bedside.”
Ah... it seemed her master had no intention of telling her about the innate treasures, likely to protect her.
“What do you mean by ‘you can summon anytime’?”
“Literal meaning. Whenever you want to use them, you can summon them with the jade pendant.”
What? Such a thing was possible?
Ye Qinghan took the jade pendant from her big treasure. She dressed lightly in Lingshuang Hall, narrowly avoiding Su Cheng’s stunned gaze.
Of course, she noticed his eyes but found his expression quite endearing.
The warm pendant, still fragrant, was handed to Su Cheng, who felt his mortal body struggle to resist its innate allure.
“Master, could you teach me how to summon?”
To Ye Qinghan, the jade pendant was merely a token of entry to Lingshuang Hall, symbolizing her status as a personal disciple. Without it, no one would see the grand immortal palace beside the humble building—named Lingxian Hall.
At this moment, Su Cheng felt dizzy. His precious precious girl was almost right in front of him!
“Prosperity! Democracy! Civilization! Harmony! Freedom! Equality! Justice! Rule of law! Patriotism! Dedication! Integrity! Friendliness!”
“Su Cheng! You cannot let yourself fall! She’s only sixteen!”
“Su Cheng! Stay true to your heart! Never let yourself fall!”
“Su Cheng! This is your disciple’s trust in you!”
