Remembering Ye Qinghan’s words, Cheng Liang slowly reached out, placed his hand on Shangguan Rou’s head, and gently ruffled her hair.
“It’s all right. Don’t take it too much to heart.”
Cheng Liang then walked over to Dongfang Jue, fed her a healing pill, and lifted her into his arms.
“Hey! Don’t touch me!”
Dongfang Jue had grown up without ever allowing a man to lay a hand on her. But after Ye Qinghan had beaten her half to death, she no longer had much strength to resist.
“You’re injured. If you aren’t treated soon, it may affect your cultivation.”
Cheng Liang paid no attention to her protests. Carrying her in his arms, he mounted his sword and flew back to the Heavenly Dao Pavilion.
Shangguan Rou clutched the healing pill Cheng Liang had given her and watched as he carried Dongfang Jue away into the distance.
The sound of shattering glass rang out. Blood seeped between her fingers. The pill bottle had been crushed, its shards embedded in her palm, yet Shangguan Rou seemed not to feel the pain at all.
At that moment, it was as though Ye Qinghan were whispering directly into her ear. The humiliating words Ye Qinghan had spoken to her in the secret realm resurfaced in her mind, every syllable and intonation perfectly clear.
“Sometimes I think you’re really stupid. You actually like a man like Cheng Liang! I have no idea what you see in him!”
Shangguan Rou now felt that Ye Qinghan had been right. What, exactly, did she like about him?
Perhaps she loved the master who had once loved Shangguan Rou. But that master seemed to be gone now.
First Ye Qinghan, and now Dongfang Jue. Tomorrow, perhaps it would be Li Shiyao. And who would it be the day after that?
Heh…
“Who did this? Ah! My son!”
Following the sound, they saw a white-haired man kneeling on the ground, clutching his son’s corpse as his body trembled with grief.
The man was Mo Chenfeng, the current head of the Mo family. He had thought that, given the Mo family’s strength, bringing only two guards to accompany his son would be more than enough.
After all, no one would willingly provoke the Mo family. Unfortunately, his son had crossed paths with Frostveil Hall. Ye Qinghan simply did not care who anyone was when she killed them.
“Frostveil Hall. Ye Qinghan.”
Someone among the gathered sect leaders mentioned the names.
“Very well! I was wondering which blind fool had done this. So it was that useless man’s new disciple!”
Mo Chenfeng was beside himself with rage. He slammed a fist into the ground, the impact making several sect leaders tremble.
“Brother Chenfeng, you must not underestimate them. We intended to seek justice for the dead, but that Su Cheng’s strength is extraordinary.”
“Nonsense! Debts must be repaid, and murder with a life! I will never let him off! Ye Qinghan, is it? I will make you wish you were dead!”
Mo Chenfeng’s eyes bulged with fury. Blood rushed to his face until every inch of it was flushed red, his features twisted by the agony of losing his son.
“Brother Mo, I think it would be best to deliberate carefully. The master of the Hall of Ascending Immortals is fiercely protective of his disciples and ruthless in his methods. Just now, right before our eyes, he shattered three mountains with a single strike!”
“Brother Chenfeng, if you wish to take revenge, you should begin with his disciple, Ye Qinghan. After all, it was Ye Qinghan who killed your son.”

“The master of the Hall of Ascending Immortals is probably stronger than all of us. A head-on confrontation is not the answer!”
At that moment, the sect leaders and family heads were all enjoying the spectacle, eager to see matters grow more serious. Since they would not have to act themselves, they began offering advice freely.
Ye Qinghan had robbed everyone present. Naturally, none of the people brought by these family heads and sect leaders had escaped her attention.
Now that someone was willing to stand up against her, they naturally united against their common enemy. The enemy of one’s enemy was a friend.
Had Shiyao still been there, she might have said a few words in Ye Qinghan’s defense. But by then, she had already tucked the immortal-grade cultivation manual into her robes and slipped away under Shi Mingyi’s guidance.
Although two other disciples from Sacred Mountain had also been robbed by Ye Qinghan, Shi Mingyi understood perfectly well which mattered more after obtaining an immortal-grade cultivation manual.
Before long, they had devised a plan.
Listening to everyone describe Su Cheng’s methods and how fiercely he protected his disciples, Mo Chenfeng was nearly enraged to death.
But he was not a fool. So many people had witnessed Su Cheng’s strength with their own eyes; it was certainly not an unfounded rumor.
Mo Chenfeng swept out his hand, gritted his teeth, and slammed his palm onto the table.
“I will make that brat Su Cheng taste the pain of losing a disciple as well!”
At the foot of Spirit Mountain, Ye Qinghan tied up her master’s horse before hurrying to catch up with him.
“Master, Qinghan made quite a lot of money this time too!”
Ye Qinghan sidled up beside her master, looking as though the words praise me had been written across her face.
“Did you? Qinghan, you’re truly impressive. You really are your master’s eldest disciple.”
By now, Su Cheng had figured out Ye Qinghan’s thoughts.
When she leaned forward, she wanted her head patted. When she rose onto her toes, she wanted a hug. Whenever she announced that she had accomplished something, she was asking to be praised.
In this world, Spirit Mountain was, in simple terms, the governing institution responsible for the sects. The eastern, western, southern, northern, and central regions each had their own systems of administration. As for the southern region, where the Hall of Ascending Immortals was located, it was governed jointly by the Human Emperor and Spirit Mountain.
That was precisely why Spirit Mountain had ignored Ye Qinghan’s killing and arson in the eastern region.
But the overnight disappearance of the Cloudpeace Sect was another matter entirely.
Su Cheng and Ye Qinghan’s arrival was like a wanted criminal walking into a police station to buy a gun. The moment Ye Qinghan entered the hall, she was surrounded.
“Miss Qinghan, regarding the matter of the Cloudpeace Sect, Spirit Mountain would like to learn a few details from you.”
Su Cheng had been somewhat worried. He feared Ye Qinghan might say the wrong thing. It was one thing to oppose other sects, but standing against Spirit Mountain while lacking sufficient strength was another matter altogether.
If Spirit Mountain truly issued a warrant for her arrest, she would be left with nowhere to stand beneath the sun, just like the demons and savage beasts.
But Ye Qinghan…
“Yes, that’s right. I was only at the ninth level of Qi Refining then, and I wiped out the entire Cloudpeace Sect with a single sword strike.”
Ye Qinghan crossed her legs, her face filled with pride as her hands continued gesturing animatedly.

Yet Ye Qinghan looked exactly like someone who had drunk too much and was boasting wildly.
“You certainly know how to brag.”
The robed man looked at her with disdain. Inwardly, he could only lament that such a beautiful girl had been wasted. She was actually an idiot.
“I’m not bragging! It’s true!”
Ye Qinghan wore an utterly sincere expression, but no one believed her. They even felt that the Hall of Ascending Immortals truly was a strange place, and that Ye Qinghan fit its style perfectly.
“I used this hand. I walked right up and slapped that elder across the face!”
“What was the elder’s name?”
“How should I know?”
“All right, I’ve written that down…”
Su Cheng stood to the side, completely dumbfounded. Was this really how things worked?
Being good-looking had benefits like this? She had destroyed an entire sect, yet no one believed her!
All Ye Qinghan heard was her master praising her for being beautiful.
“Um, where do we collect the sect subsidy?”
“Er… didn’t you say you destroyed the Cloudpeace Sect? Are you really short of this little bit of money?”
“I’m setting up businesses, of course I need money!”
The man rolled his eyes. Her master scavenged vegetable leaves while she was secretly building an industrial empire behind his back? She really knew how to brag.
“The side hall next door, on the left.”
The man looked utterly speechless, though he could not be bothered to quarrel with Ye Qinghan.
Ye Qinghan glanced at her master, her face full of grievance.
“Qinghan is obviously so impressive. Why don’t they believe me?”
“Isn’t that a good thing?”
Smiling, Su Cheng ruffled Ye Qinghan’s hair and led her to collect the sect subsidy.
“No, it isn’t. Qinghan wants the whole world to know the name of the Hall of Ascending Immortals! Qinghan is going to become the greatest sword immortal under heaven!”
Ye Qinghan scratched her head, as though she had suddenly remembered something.
“No, wait. Master is the greatest under heaven, so Qinghan will become the second-greatest sword immortal!”
