Chapter 14

Li Jingxing instructed Butler Liu to take the cat back to the room.
The little cat was held by the butler, struggling for a moment and turning its head to look back. From a distance, it saw two people seemingly beginning to argue. Before it could hear what was happening, the butler covered its ears.
The little cat pondered for a moment and said to the system:
“System, I think this time we’re guaranteed to win.”
System: “Huh?”
Little cat: “They’re arguing so fiercely; there’s no way they’ll reconcile. Once I finish the mission, I’ll take you to headquarters.”
Listening to the cat’s hopeful words, the system was full of confidence.
It felt this plan could succeed.
The little cat waited upstairs for a long time, almost falling asleep, until it finally heard the sound of the door opposite opening.
It lifted its head, shook its fur, lowered its body, stretched a big yawn, then scampered towards the opposite door.
Li Jingxing was sitting in the small private theater inside his room, playing a musical that the little cat couldn’t understand.
The little cat stopped at the door, feeling that although the sound was loud, the room seemed so quiet that it had to step cautiously.
Li Jingxing absentmindedly rubbed an old ring on his hand, when suddenly he felt a paw press on his abdomen. A little white cat slipped skillfully through the gap between his arms and poked out its head.
“Meow?”
Did you win the argument?
After asking, the little cat immediately realized he must have lost, judging by his state.
Should it comfort him now?
Maybe lick his fur?
The little cat hesitated.
Li Jingxing looked at the little white cat forcing its way into his arms, its little nose sniffing his face. He set the cat down gently on the floor, coldly saying:
“Don’t try these tricks. Even if Ming Xuan doesn’t love me, it’s not your place to take over.”
Little cat: ?
Ridiculous.
The little cat turned to leave.
He’s not worth it.
The system howled desperately beside her to stop her: “Don’t go, Fairy! This is the best time to raise favorability. If you leave now, it’s like giving away points for nothing!”
The little cat’s ears hurt from the system’s noise. She hesitated, then turned back to look at Li Jingxing, only to see him take out his phone at some point, frowning as he stared at something.
Curious, the little cat glanced over.
Seeing the content on the screen, the little cat recalled memories and fell silent.
Slowly, she backed away.
But it was too late. Li Jingxing darkened his face, pressed the cat down and caught her in front of the phone, pointing at the screen and asking:
“Who did this?”
Little cat: “Meow?”
I’m just a cat; I don’t understand your human affairs.
The little cat tried to escape, but Li Jingxing held her down again.
Looking at the conversation between “him” and a friend on the phone, his face paled repeatedly. He hadn’t noticed the message at the class reunion, and after returning, hadn’t checked his phone, missing the best chance to explain. Now, his friend had forwarded Jiang Ye’s contact info.
Li Jingxing took a deep breath and typed:
“I didn’t send that message.”
Thinking of Little White’s identity, and the fact that Ming Xuan had returned, he didn’t say who sent it.
The friend on the phone was puzzled but then realized they had said Li Jingxing had a girlfriend. Could the new girlfriend have sent it?
No wonder—Jiang Ye had been quite popular lately, with many female fans.
If it was Li Jingxing’s girlfriend, it was entirely possible.

“Got it, got it. Jiang Ye is at the set tomorrow. We can arrange for them to meet. Girls like that sort of thing.”
Li Jingxing: ?
Arrange who?
Before he could react, the little cat, who hadn’t left, proudly placed her paw on his hand.
“Meow.”
I’ll do it.
She wanted to check out her backup human.
Li Jingxing laughed bitterly.
His cat—and he was supposed to arrange for her to meet other humans? Was that reasonable?
He poked the little cat’s head and sneered coldly: “Don’t even think about it.”
The little cat bared her teeth: “Meow!!!”
Li Jingxing looked at the cat arguing with him and doubted:
“Do you know this actor?”
The little cat hesitated for a moment.
Li Jingxing grew more suspicious. How could this cat possibly know that actor?
Just then, Zhou Mingxuan knocked at the door.
“Li Jingxing? Can I borrow your car? I can’t get a ride nearby.”
Hearing the familiar voice, Li Jingxing immediately pushed aside his doubts and instinctively wanted to turn off the musical playing, but couldn’t find the remote.
He turned his head to see the little white cat sitting proudly on the remote, seemingly studying it. The cat pawed at it, and the volume of the musical increased.
The little cat: “...”
Oh boy.
Li Jingxing took a deep breath and tried to reason with the cat: “Little White, give me the remote. Stop fooling around.”
But when the cat doesn’t want to listen, human words are like wind passing by. The little cat tapped the remote again.
Li Jingxing: “Enough! Tomorrow when you go to the film shoot, you better behave and don’t keep showing up in Ming Xuan’s presence—”
At that moment, Li Jingxing finally realized what he should be hiding wasn’t the musical but this cat acting as his stand-in.
Little cat: ?
Sensing danger, the cat’s paws quickly retreated, but it was too late. Li Jingxing grabbed two pillows and pinned the cat beneath them, disguising her as a plush cushion.
Little cat: ...
I give up.
At that moment, the door to the theater cracked open, and Zhou Mingxuan apologized:
“Sorry, since you didn’t open the door, I tried to see if I could get in...” She stopped, noticing the musical playing.
She paused for a second, then calmly said to Li Jingxing:
“I have some things to do and want to borrow your car for a bit.”
Li Jingxing threw the remote aside in frustration, raised his head, and sneered at Zhou Mingxuan:
“Seeing how I’m still hung up on you, are you satisfied now?”
Zhou Mingxuan frowned.
Li Jingxing stood: “You always do this—after arguing, you never give me a chance, yet come back with some trivial request just to see me at my worst, to assert your superiority in this relationship.”
“Weren’t you supposed to stay here tonight since it was late? Now you want to leave. Want me to coax you?”
He sneered, “Fine, go. I won’t lend you the car.”
“Zhou Mingxuan, you’re no longer my only one. After all these years, I’ve learned your tricks. My heart can be divided too. Little White is now my favorite. You’re not.”
The little cat quietly lay beneath the pillow, pretending to be a harmless plush cushion. She looked at the human and quietly told the system:
“This time I really feel like he’s about to cry.”
Page 3/3
“He really seems very sad.”
“But if he says I’m his favorite, why is he hiding me from Ming Xuan?”
The system 0521: “Little cat, don’t pry into matters of the heart.”
The little cat wanted to argue but saw Zhou Mingxuan’s expression turn cold:
“Fine, I’m leaving.”
Without hesitation, she turned and left.
Li Jingxing stood, grabbed her wrist, eyes sharp:
“You said there were no cars nearby. How do you plan to leave? Have Lu Yanting come pick you up? Or some new boyfriend?”
Zhou Mingxuan smiled: “What’s it to you?”
She shook off his hand and left.
Li Jingxing sat on the soft sofa in the theater, eyes deep and silent.
The little cat quietly moved her cushion to the door, glanced at the human, and thought of the bitter truths he had read before. She hesitated, then stepped forward.
Soon, the little cat brought over a small bag of freeze-dried treats and placed it beside the human.
“Meow.”
Here’s some freeze-dried food. Will you really feel less sad?
Li Jingxing ignored the cat.
The little cat told the system: “As expected, human things are all lies.”
She licked his hand, nuzzled his head. Li Jingxing unconsciously reached out to stroke the cat’s head, tiredly saying:
“Little White, you sleep alone tonight, okay? I’m a bit tired.”
The little cat’s ears twitched: “Meow.”
Alright then.
The little cat padded out.
Outside the villa, Zhou Mingxuan was looking at her phone, planning to ask a friend for a ride.
Suddenly, she heard the horn honking behind her. Turning around, she was surprised to see the little white cat driving a small red car speeding toward her.
The car stopped beside her. The little cat tapped the door with her paw, looking like a spoiled playboy cat, eyes shining as she called:
“Meow!”
Get in, I’ll take you.
Zhou Mingxuan felt her heart skip a beat.
What kind of cat is this? Too adorable.
She burst out laughing. After a gloomy evening trapped in the villa area, hesitating about whom to ask for help, it was a little cat driving a fancy little car who came to pick her up.
It was truly magical, like stepping into an animated movie.
Could this little cat be the feline version of Beta, the tank driver?
The little car could actually fit an adult. Zhou Mingxuan carefully got into the tiny cat car.
The little cat, seeing her settle in, raised a paw and tapped the steering wheel.
“Meow—”
Let’s go!!
The little cat howled with passion. Zhou Mingxuan laughed joyfully, caught up in the excitement.
Li Jingxing, chasing after with the car keys: “...?”
His cat drove off with his ex-girlfriend?
And it was a convertible. Were they planning to go for a joyride?
Li Jingxing was utterly baffled.
