Chapter Four: Adding Insult to Injury, Pushing One's Luck?
"You said it yourself. From now on, don't you dare come bothering me. If you do, you're my offspring and I'm your father!"
"You!!"
"Fine, fine, fine, Xu Ye. You said this yourself. Even if you kneel down and kowtow to me now, it's useless. I will never forgive you!"
With a dark expression, she stormed off in a rage. She couldn't believe Xu Ye had the audacity to treat her this way; there was no way she would let it slide easily this time. At the very least, he would have to kneel before her and pay her 500,000 in emotional damages.
As for the idea that he had actually "awakened" and would never grovel to her again? Impossible. No one understood his personality better than she did. He was the most loyal lapdog she had ever trained. Even if she trampled his dignity into the dirt, the most he would dare to do was bark a few times, and within half a day, he would inevitably be back, begging for her attention with a shameless grin. He was just that pathetic, spineless, and completely devoid of boundaries.
Xu Ye didn't even want to spare her another glance. He walked quickly back to the Law Department's orientation booth, continuing to wait for Su Zijin.
However, the entire afternoon passed without a sign of her. His phone pinged instead, and a WeChat message popped up.
QQZJ: "Still keeping your 'white moonlight' company?"
Seeing the screen name, Xu Ye felt a brief moment of disorientation, followed by a slight upward curve of his lips. This was his best friend and gaming partner from his previous life—someone he had met online. Although they had never met in person, they had fought side-by-side on countless digital battlefields, and their bond was closer than that of biological brothers.
It was just a pity... Thinking about how he had fallen out with this friend in his past life because of Xu Ruowei, Xu Ye wanted to slap himself.
Wildness Unbound: "Not anymore. We just had a huge fight. It's completely over."
QQZJ: "You? Arguing with her?"
QQZJ: "Heh!"
Xu Ye opened his mouth, unsure of what to say. If it were anyone else, it would be fine, but even his own best friend saw him that way? Just how much of a pathetic loser had he been in his past life?
Before Xu Ye could resolve this trust crisis, another message came from his friend.
"Are you okay?"
Wildness Unbound: "I'm fine. Better than ever."
QQZJ: "Want to play a few rounds then?"
Wildness Unbound: "Let's do it tonight. PUBG?"
QQZJ: "Nah, afraid your hands will shake and you'll drag me down. Let's play League."
Wildness Unbound: "My hands don't shake!"
QQZJ: "Then you need to see a urologist."
Wildness Unbound: "Screw you. I'm heading home. Tonight, you go Yasuo and I'll go Lee Sin. Let's go on a killing spree."
QQZJ: "You, a killing spree? Or are you just going to feed?"
Xu Ye smiled as he put his phone away and took one last look at the main school gate. It seemed she wasn't coming today. That was fine; he would wait until tomorrow, or perhaps the official start of the semester. With this thought, he sighed and turned toward the parking lot.
But just as he reached the parking lot, he saw Xu Ruowei unlocking her convertible, preparing to get in with Pei An.
Xu Ye couldn't help but laugh in frustration. This woman really hadn't taken a word he said to heart. Several student council members were gathered around them, fawning and flattering.
"Ruowei, a new car again today?"
"An Aston Martin, no less! Ruowei, isn't your dad being a bit too generous?"
"Look at how little you know. Do you even know which is Ruowei's best car? It's a Pagani Huayra, worth over ninety million!"
"Wow!"
"Over ninety million for one car? And that's just one of them?"
"As expected of the Xu family. Are they really that wealthy?"
"It's nothing, everyone, please don't say that~"
Listening to the flattery, Xu Ruowei maintained a calm, gentle expression on the surface, but inside, she was already soaring. She loved this feeling—being the center of everyone's attention, envy, and jealousy.
But just then, a sneer cut through the air.
"Tell me, Miss Xu, is this car even yours? How can you stand there and pretend with such a thick face?"
Xu Ruowei turned around, her expression turning hideous in an instant. Xu Ye! But that wasn't the point—the point was what he had just said! What did he mean? What exactly was he trying to do?! The more she thought about it, the angrier she became, and she marched straight toward him.
"Xu Ye, have you not caused enough trouble yet?"
"Don't forget my warning. If you keep this up, I really will ignore you for a whole month!"
Xu Ye was amused. "I told you, please, make sure you ignore me. Otherwise, you're my offspring and I'm your father!"
Did this woman still not understand the situation? Did she really think he would still coddle her? The only reason he hadn't slapped her across the face right then and there was because he wanted to torture and humiliate her slowly!
"You—"
Xu Ruowei was furious, but before she could finish, Jiang Yang, the president of the Fitness Club, jumped in.
"Xu Ye, Ruowei has really given you too much face, hasn't she?"
"You're nothing but a dog raised by the Xu family! Ruowei didn't hold a grudge against you at noon, and instead of being grateful, you're pushing your luck and climbing all over her?"
"Get on your knees and apologize to Ruowei right now, or I'll break your legs!"
"Did you hear me? Move!"
"Three seconds! If you don't kneel, I'll cripple you before Brother Jiang even has to lift a finger!"
"Kneel down now!!"
The others chimed in, howling along with Jiang Yang. In their eyes, Xu Ye had gone too far. The campus goddess had already forgiven him once at noon; how could he be so ungrateful? This wasn't just arrogance; it was rebellion!
Pei An, however, sensed something was off and stepped in to mediate. "Alright, everyone, we're all classmates. What kind of conflict can't be resolved through communication? Shouting about fighting and killing—what does that look like?"
He then turned to Xu Ye with a hypocritical look. "Xu Ye, you too. You know that—"
Before he could finish, Xu Ye cut him off with a cold, sharp tone.
"I know your grandfather. Who the hell are you to be yapping in front of me?"
"You mother—"
The crowd was completely incensed. Pei An, the campus heartthrob, was trying to do him a favor, and not only was he ungrateful, but he was also spewing insults? Clearly, the campus goddess had been too lenient with him, causing him to lose all sense of reality and become completely unhinged.
"Ruowei, I can't take it anymore. Do you want me to teach him a lesson for you?"
"Ruowei, you have to do something about him. If you don't, this guy is really going to lose his mind."
"I've never seen a servant this arrogant. It's completely backward—this is just too much!"
"Ruowei, just fire his whole family!"
Xu Ruowei wanted to, but fire Xu Ye? If only she could. Just then, her best friend, Wu Siyu, jumped out and pointed at Xu Ye, screaming, "Xu Ye, you've gone too far! You eat and drink off the Xu family's dime every day; you should be grateful, yet here you are bullying Ruowei! If you don't kneel and apologize to her today, see if any of us will let you get away with this!"
