Chapter 126: Can't Even Finish Off a Zhang Changlin in Seconds
Clang!
The broken blade in Zhang Changlin’s hand soared high into the air before crashing down onto the concrete road. It spun violently, carving deep gouges into the cement as it skidded far across the surface.
Zhang Changlin’s body plummeted from above, smashing mercilessly against the road. The impact caused the pavement to suddenly cave inward, forming a hemispherical crater. His battered form landed hard within it, blood pouring from his mouth and nose, staining his entire body.
The disparity between them was vast—losing was inevitable.
Zhang Changlin was no match for his opponent; he wasn’t even close to being an equal adversary.
Above, the White Jade Priest, dressed in a pristine white suit, had already donned a white mask. Cold, indifferent eyes glimmered beneath it as he fixed his gaze on Zhang Changlin, who was staggering to his feet within the crater.
Zhang Changlin’s resilience far exceeded the White Jade Priest’s expectations.
“You truly have no fear of death. You, Zhang Changlin, are a Dreamwalker from the capital, not belonging to Jiangling. Why do you insist on blocking my entry into Jiangling City with such desperation?” the White Jade Priest said lightly.
Raising his hand, a white jade orb appeared, forged entirely from condensed Dream Spirit energy, radiating an overwhelming and terrifying power.
Zhang Changlin wobbled as he stood, blood streaming from his mouth and nose. His bruised and battered face struggled to meet the gaze of the spinning white sphere above.
From it, he sensed the scent of death.
He would die.
This battle… he would surely die.
Yet Zhang Changlin was not afraid. Fixing his eyes on the rotating orb, his trembling hand shakily retrieved a cigarette from a blood-stained pack, placing it between his lips.
The power gap was insurmountable.
Against a world-ending level powerhouse, Zhang Changlin was powerless to resist. Even if he wished to, his strength simply wasn’t enough.
Delaying for even this moment was the utmost effort he could muster.
He had entered Lionfire State and unsealed the broken blade...
But it would only buy him a brief reprieve.
He did not know if such delay was truly meaningful. His hope was to hold out until Li Ang and his wife arrived. Facing a world-ending level foe, only a nation-level Dreamwalker could stand a chance.
But Zhang Changlin was destined for disappointment.
“Die,” the White Jade Priest smiled faintly.
Casually, he tossed the white orb downward toward Zhang Changlin.
As it fell, space around the orb seemed to warp and twist, a clear sign of the terrifying energy it contained.
Its descent appeared slow but was a psychological torment.
The White Jade Priest believed Zhang Changlin’s death was certain, so he was in no rush.
He also understood that Zhang Changlin’s desperate resistance was merely to buy time for Li Ang and his wife.
But Zhang Changlin was doomed to fail.
To block Li Ang and his wife, the White Jade Priest had even deployed a precious Fallen God avatar—an incarnation of the Fallen God’s will walking the mortal realm.
This was the latest breakthrough by the Divine Core organization, capable of summoning avatars of the Fallen God’s will.
Though not equivalent to the true Fallen God’s arrival, it was a significant step forward.
“There seems to be a Forbidden Zone Dream Disaster surrounding Jiangling City…”
“The materials needed to create a Fallen God avatar can only be obtained from a Forbidden Zone Dream Disaster. The Forbidden Zone is a true treasure trove!”
“This trip might yield great rewards!” the White Jade Priest laughed.
As for Zhang Changlin—
Die he must.
After all, he had already severed ties with the Great Xia Dreamwalker Association.
So the White Jade Priest planned to unleash a massacre.
Zhang Changlin tilted his head upward, locking eyes with the descending white orb.
A suffocating aura of death seemed to empty his mind in that instant.
Suddenly!
A fiery red spear tore through the air, trembling as it howled forward!
Slender, powerful legs leapt down.
Zhao Lingyin, sensing the fierce battle between Zhang Changlin and the White Jade Priest outside the city, had rushed to the scene without hesitation.
“Flame God Spear!” she shouted sharply.
Landing before Zhang Changlin, she gripped the spear single-handedly, thrusting it fiercely forward.
The spear tip seemed to ignite a sea of flames!
The boiling inferno collided with the white jade orb.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The explosive energy erupted outward in all directions.
Unrestrained Dream Spirit energy surged from Zhao Lingyin, who had activated her Half-Domain. After freezing time, she unleashed a full-powered strike that nearly pierced through the fabric of space.
Invisible ripples of energy spread outward like shockwaves.
The hovering White Jade Priest flickered with surprise.
The white orb finally exploded!
It resembled a giant white bowl, covering the ground and engulfing both Zhang Changlin and Zhao Lingyin within.
Sounds of earth and sand turning to ash hissed through the air—harbingers of destruction and death.
In the distance,
President Tang Nai, clutching his crutch sword, sprinted swiftly.
But his stride faltered slightly as he stared at the white light rising from the ground.
His face grew grave—so heavy it seemed as though water might drip from it.
“Enemy attack!!!” Tang Nai’s roar shattered the calm of Jiangling City.
Within the city, all armed forces mobilized. Helicopters hovered, fighter jets screamed through the sky.
Armored vehicles, tanks, and soldiers in camouflage stood alert, forming a defensive line along the sole highway leading into the city.
The explosion subsided gradually.
At the center of the blast was a crater, as if the earth had been vaporized.
At the crater’s edge, a shadow streaked forward.
President Tang Nai, dressed in traditional Chinese attire, landed beside the deep pit, his white hair blown by the wind, eyes filled with profound shock.
After entrusting some matters to Wen Ji, he hurried outside the city.
As Jiangling’s sole Dreamwalker of City-Level caliber, he had no reason to flee.
He personally headed to the frontline, determined to stand or fall with Jiangling.
Yet what he witnessed was utterly astonishing.
At the crater’s center,
Harsh gasps echoed, like the roar of a bellows.
Zhao Lingyin’s alabaster long legs were marked with bruises and black-and-blue wounds. Gripping the spear tightly, she panted heavily, drenched in sweat. Her hands were completely charred, the skin burnt to a crisp.
Her trembling grip dripped bright red blood from the wounds.
Behind her, Zhang Changlin watched with a complex expression.
Above, the White Jade Priest’s face beneath the mask showed a trace of surprise.
“Blocked?” he murmured.
“This strike was the true power of a world-ending level. And yet it was stopped by a mere city-destroying level girl?”
Zhao Lingyin’s hair was singed, but she did not care. Slowly, she lifted her head and grinned.
“Come again! I’ll stop as many as come!”
Her exhausted, battered face twisted into a mocking smile. Though her intelligence had been sacrificed for her legs, she knew better than to show weakness now.
The White Jade Priest laughed.
“You must be Zhao Lingyin—the renowned prodigy of Great Xia, wielder of infinite Dream Spirit and Half-Domain, disciple of Ye Zong, the Grandmaster of the Great Xia Dreamwalker Association.”
He saw through her identity at a glance.
In truth, Zhao Lingyin’s identity was undeniable.
“You know who I am… so why don’t you run?” she said, pointing the searing spear tip at the ground.
“Why would I run?”
The White Jade Priest tilted his head.
Raising his hand, he gestured toward Zhang Changlin with a smile.
“Why do you think he’s been able to hold me off so long?”
“A mere upper-rank Dreamwalker, not even city-level…”
“What makes you think he can delay me this long?”
Zhao Lingyin, whose intellect was all spent on her legs, failed to grasp the deeper meaning behind his words.
Without hesitation, she replied, “You’re weak trash! A world-ending level can’t even kill a mere upper-rank with one strike. If Uncle Tianjian were here, one slash would kill you.”
The White Jade Priest and Zhang Changlin were both speechless.
Such blunt words cut deep.
Yet Zhang Changlin, drenched in blood, paid no mind to the sting. Instead, a tremor ran through him, a flash of shock and urgency shining in his eyes.
“You’re stalling too?!” Zhang Changlin growled.
The White Jade Priest laughed again.
It was hard to keep up the act with such a dimwit.
Thankfully, there was one who understood.
“Forgot to tell you—my special ability is a perfect power duplicate. My avatar is the original, and the original is my avatar. Both possess full power!”
“My true self has already entered the city. This duplicate is here to play with you.”
The White Jade Priest chuckled lightly.
Suddenly, his laughter ceased.
He turned sharply to look beyond Jiangling City.
He noticed an eerie silence outside the city.
A silence so chilling it sent a shiver down his spine.
Because he discovered the aura of the Fallen God avatar… had vanished!
