Chapter Seventy-five: Papa Du, Little Du... Jealousy
Du Fang sensed that something was off with Luo Luo’s emotions. Why was she growing more and more excited? Was that really the feeling one should have when witnessing oneself being torn apart? Even if she knew it was a fake version of herself, excitement... it seemed entirely misplaced. For a moment, Du Fang didn’t know how to comfort her.
“Daddy, can Luo Luo go play after this?” Luo Luo tilted her head, blinking those innocent, wide eyes at him, her voice cautious and soft.
Du Fang was taken aback. He gazed at her trembling eyelashes, the tentative curiosity in her eyes, the anxiety that he might refuse her. His heart softened, and he reached out to gently pat her head.
“Of course you can,” he said. “But remember, this world has many child traffickers. Never wander too far alone, and always stay safe.” Du Fang cautioned.
“What’s a trafficker? Can you eat it?” Luo Luo asked, her curiosity piqued.
Du Fang paused, then simply said, “Just be careful.”
Feeling the care in his words, Luo Luo’s eyes brightened, a smile blossoming at her lips, dimples deepening.
“Thank you, Daddy!” she chirped.
Then, happily, she swung her pink pig plushie, Kiki, her gaze filled with anticipation as she stared at the plump female dream demon who had just defeated Chen Xi inside the cage.
She parted her lips slightly, as if drooling in excitement.
...
...
In the end, Chen Xi lost.
She couldn’t carry her miracle to the very end and was eliminated. Yet Chen Xi felt little regret; just making it out of the group stage had her so excited she almost burst out laughing in the restroom.
“It’s a pity. I’m not strong enough. The Luo Luo I copied... somehow lacked her true spirit. If only…” she mused. “If I’d managed that, taking down this big milk cow witch wouldn’t have been a problem.”
She regretted deeply.
Suppressing her inner fear, she used her special ability to imprint a mirror clone of Luo Luo. But it was all superficial, far from the real thing, and thus her Luo Luo clone was instantly shredded.
“It’s because my training isn’t enough. After this invitational, I need Brother Du to train me day and night!” she resolved. “Getting stronger is built on constant, relentless effort!”
She had found the way to become stronger; all that remained was to overcome her inner fear.
If she could truly capture a hint of Luo Luo’s spirit, her mirror clones might unleash unimaginable power.
Because, Chen Xi was sure—Luo Luo’s strength was utterly absurd.
Crossing the court, Chen Xi headed toward Du Fang, who stood at the edge of the arena. Suddenly, a chill swept over her, cold wind brushing past. She thought she heard the “giggle giggle giggle” of a little girl’s laughter.
Her eyes tightened, head turning slightly. In the empty court, she glimpsed a little girl in a princess dress, carrying a pink pig plushie, humming a nursery rhyme as she skipped toward the cage.
The space around her twisted.
Then Chen Xi saw it clearly—Luo Luo was skipping, blood dripping from her body with every bounce, a terrifying pressure emanating from her dream spirit, stirring an uncontrollable terror deep within Chen Xi.
“Auntie, you were wonderful,” Luo Luo said with a giggle.
Luo Luo hadn’t expected Chen Xi to have the courage to copy her.
But Chen Xi dared not move a muscle, watching as Luo Luo bounced to the cage.
Luo Luo stood before the cage, tilting her head, smiling with a silver-bell “giggle giggle giggle.”
Inside, the mature, peach-like female dream demon was completely unaware...
Just as she was slowly rising from her electrocuted state, her body abruptly stiffened.
As a dream demon, she was sensitive to fear; her soul shivered.
She looked up.
The scene before her began to shift and warp.
Luo Luo wanted her to see—and so she saw.
The dream demon saw a white princess dress stained with blood, a girl’s face sliced into countless pieces then stitched back together.
She saw the girl’s gaping mouth, a tongue covered in barbs, dripping with saliva, slithering from a maw filled with inverted triangular fangs.
Such a small body, yet holding monstrous terror.
Thud!
The female dream demon fell to her knees.
Endless fear filled her being...
This girl was nothing like the mirror clone Chen Xi had conjured earlier!
“Did you enjoy the tearing?” Luo Luo asked, head tilted.
A little girl’s heart would never be too big.
Daddy’s surname was Du, so hers was too—Big Du for Daddy, Little Du for Luo Luo.
She was Du Luo Luo,
Little Du, chicken-hearted.
“I was wrong... I was wrong...” The voluptuous dream demon trembled in terror.
And Luo Luo’s smile grew ever more excited...
“You tear me, I tear you, let’s play joyously together.”
Holding Kiki in one hand, she lifted her chubby other hand and clenched it.
The steel cage,
under an indescribable force,
screeched as it was twisted into a steel ball in an instant.
Inside, the female dream demon was crushed!
Blood and flesh burst out from the steel ball, splattering the nearby referee’s face.
Referee: “...”
Chen Xi: “...”
Luo Luo clapped gleefully, giggling, her tongue shooting out and stabbing into the iron ball.
A struggling dream demon’s will was dragged back by the barbed tongue and stuffed into her mouth.
Luo Luo chewed,
as if savoring bubblegum, never swallowing,
hopeless, desperate screams echoing from her mouth.
Kiki, nestled in her arms, listened in silence. The plush’s body stiffened, a mark of respect, then even shed a sympathetic... drool.
...
...
Suddenly, chaos erupted on the court.
Chen Xi had barely left before the cage holding the female dream demon was compressed by a force as if by a giant magnet.
The demon inside was savagely crushed.
The scene was overwhelming.
Almost simultaneously,
everyone’s gaze fell on Du Fang, standing at the court’s edge, waiting for Chen Xi’s return.
Du Fang was bewildered.
Why were they all looking at him?
What did it have to do with him?
Not his problem!
This explosion of the female dream demon had absolutely nothing to do with him!
It was Luo Luo’s doing!
Well deserved!
Who told her to tear up Luo Luo—even if it was just a mirror clone, that was unforgivable!
Du Fang had already planned to find a time to blow up this heinous dream demon.
Unquestionably, Du Fang always sided with Luo Luo.
How could his Luo Luo have any evil intentions?
She only wanted to happily play with the female dream demon.
Just as he finished this thought,
Luo Luo returned, her small hand slipping into Du Fang’s, holding tight.
And Luo Luo, chewing contentedly, wore a radiant smile as if she’d just eaten her fill, utterly satisfied.
“Naughty,” Du Fang patted her head lovingly.
Luo Luo looked up, giggling brightly.
Then, without lingering or caring about the strange, fearful gazes from all sides, Du Fang led Luo Luo away, entering the lounge.
...
...
Tang Nai rose to his feet again.
A trace of fear flashed in his eyes, a bead of cold sweat trailing down his cheek.
“Just now...”
“It felt like something... came out.”
“Not a pig...” Tang Nai breathed softly.
As a Dream Traverser of Crossing City level, his dream spirit perception was immensely strong, which allowed him to capture sights other ordinary Dream Traversers missed.
That fleeting, terrifying pressure—
like a supreme deity looking down on ants from heights untold.
His figure blurred,
and, in the next instant, Tang Nai appeared before the steel ball.
The air reeked of blood.
Tang Nai’s face was grim and dark.
“Who is it?” He looked around, but found no trace whatsoever.
Sweat pooled ever more on his brow.
As a Crossing City level Dream Traverser, he felt a panic beyond his control.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh!
Several Dream Traversers in black suits rushed to his side.
“Did you notice anything unusual?” Tang Nai asked in a low voice.
“None at all. Our dream spirit senses detected nothing, and the machines picked up no dream spirit fluctuations either...”
“This cage, this dream demon... it’s as if it was crushed out of nowhere!” the Dream Traverser reported.
Tang Nai leaned on his cane, nodding.
Crushed out of nowhere?
Obviously impossible—there had to be outside interference.
But who?
He cast a deep look at the dead dream demon, then turned to the stunned Chen Xi,
the girl seemed shocked by the sudden collapse of the cage and the exploded demon, teetering between fainting and staying conscious.
“Is it her?” Tang Nai murmured, but quickly shook his head. “No, this girl... lacks the aura of a strong one.”
Then Tang Nai looked toward Du Fang, who had just entered the lounge.
Watching Du Fang’s coat fluttering in the wind...
Tang Nai narrowed his eyes.
That figure—
mysterious,
profound,
walking away with his coat billowing,
was the true mark of a strong one.
“But...”
“Was that fleeting terror just now released by him?”
“What hidden power lies within him?”
At this moment,
even Tang Nai, facing the gradually emerging mystery of Du Fang, felt his heart waver,
with an urge to probe Du Fang’s secrets,
to drag them out without reservation!
