“Looking for death!”

The Redfeather Celestial God hovered in midair, utterly silent. His silver pupils shone brilliantly as he looked down at Gu Sha, his face calm and utterly unruffled. A thread of source energy surged from the ring on his finger, and in the next instant, a long spear appeared in his hand.

He thrust the spear at Gu Sha. The attack was simple and direct, colliding with Gu Sha’s Tang saber. A thunderclap rang across the sky as source power erupted. In the mountains, every tree was knocked down; a shock wave swept over the land, flattening the vegetation against the ground, while countless boulders were sent flying in all directions.

Both men retreated several meters through the air at the same time.

“This…”

“He actually blocked the Redfeather Celestial God’s attack?”

“No wonder he’s so arrogant. He really does have some ability!”

“…”

That first exchange left many people stunned.

After all, the question most frequently debated online had been whether Gu Sha could withstand a single punch from Redfeather. Yet Gu Sha’s performance shocked everyone. From that brief clash, the two appeared evenly matched.

Even the several War Emperors watching from the sidelines were astonished.

In terms of cultivation and combat power, Redfeather was the strongest among them. None of them could defeat him in single combat, and they had never believed Gu Sha had any chance of overcoming him.

But now, after witnessing their first exchange, they saw that Gu Sha had actually held his own against Redfeather. It was truly astonishing.

“Although Redfeather hasn’t used his full strength, Gu Sha is still merely an ordinary human from Earth. The fact that he managed to block that attack means he has earned his reputation,” Wu Ji said.

A glimmer flashed through Lin Miaoyi’s eyes. “With such a humble origin, reaching this level in so short a time is no small feat. I want him!”

Bai Feng of the Flying Sword Sect chuckled. “You’d better not let that fellow Redfeather hear you. His feelings for you are obvious. If he hears what you just said, he’ll probably become jealous—and he may well try to kill Gu Sha.”

“There’s something wrong with him,” Lin Miaoyi said. “Putting aside the fact that I’m only interested in Gu Sha’s potential, even if I were interested in him personally, what business would that be of Redfeather’s?”

Wu Ji gave a light laugh. “If you truly took a liking to Gu Sha, you might not even need to wait for Redfeather to act. Your Lin family would eliminate him first. Someone from a fallen civilization could never be worthy of the eldest princess of the Lin family!”

Just then, Gu Sha and Redfeather exchanged several more tentative blows in the air. The aftershocks shattered the earth, broke the grass, and flattened everything in their path. The sight was terrifying, with shattered rocks hurtling through the sky.

After another collision, the Redfeather Celestial God looked down at Gu Sha and said, “Not bad, Gu Sha. I’ll give you the opportunity to follow me. You possess some potential. Become my follower, and if you perform well enough, I will bestow opportunities upon you!”

The moment Redfeather said this, the extraordinary beings watching from the outskirts of the Taihang Mountains erupted into an uproar.

Some sneered disdainfully, believing that Redfeather’s words were insulting to Gu Sha and that, given Gu Sha’s temperament, he would never accept.

But even more people argued against them.

“How is that insulting? Redfeather is a descendant of the gods, and naturally noble. What’s wrong with him saying that? This is Gu Sha’s opportunity. If I were him, I’d accept immediately!”

“That is the Red-Gold Crane clan. I’ve heard they are a first-rate power even among the advanced civilizations—a great power with true gods among its ranks. For Gu Sha to have the chance to be chosen by the Redfeather Celestial God is an honor!”

“…”

High above, Gu Sha looked at Redfeather and snorted. Then he glanced toward the interior of the Taihang Mountains. Faintly, he could see that the strange beasts within the mountains had already succeeded in infiltrating the outer perimeter.

The time was almost right.

Gu Sha beckoned to the Redfeather Celestial God and said, “I don’t have time to play with you anymore. Those chicken wings of yours are coming off now!”

“You ungrateful wretch!”

The Redfeather Celestial God flew into a furious rage. Waves of energy erupted from his body, taking visible form. Golden ripples surged like a vast tsunami, spreading across the sky and crashing forward like raging waves against the shore.

“I thought you had some potential and wanted to give you a chance, but you don’t know how to treasure it.” The long spear in Redfeather’s hand transformed. Blazing flames ignited around its tip as he looked down at Gu Sha and said coldly, “Mortal, you have successfully angered me!”

“This is bad,” Wu Ji said from afar. “Gu Sha really has enraged Redfeather. Redfeather hadn’t even used forty percent of his strength earlier. Now that he’s fighting at full power and has even unleashed his innate divine ability, Gu Sha is doomed!”

Lin Miaoyi opened and closed her mouth, then sighed. “Gu Sha is simply too arrogant. He provoked Redfeather, and now even I can’t protect him.”

High above, Redfeather spread his wings. Surging flames rolled across the sky like waves. The low stone mountains were torn apart, and some of the boulders exploded into dust.

“Pay the price for your blasphemy against the gods!”

“To hell with your gods!”

Gu Sha sneered and threw away his Tang saber. Then he shot into the sky, vast source power erupting from his body as he broke through the flames pouring down upon him.

Clang!

Amid the heaven-shaking inferno, Gu Sha struck the tip of Redfeather’s spear with his fist. The collision of their immense energies produced a thunderous explosion, like iron being forged—or the war drums of the heavens roaring. The sound shook every spectator to the core.

Yet in the next instant, everyone watched in horror as Redfeather was sent flying backward and crashed into a mountainside, scattering rocks in every direction.

Redfeather climbed to his feet in a miserable state and let out a furious roar.

“You filthy lowborn! You have enraged me! I’ll strip the skin from your body and tear out your tendons!”

With his roar, what seemed like a volcanic crater appeared above his head. As he shot skyward, torrents of crimson “magma” rolled forth and surged toward Gu Sha.

Gu Sha charged forward like a falling meteor.

Under the disbelieving gazes of everyone present, he tore the “volcanic crater” apart with his bare hands. Then he brought one foot down on the head of the Redfeather Celestial God, driving him into the mountain below.

“Ah!”

Redfeather was consumed by fury. To be humiliated so thoroughly by a lowly human was unbearable to his pride, and he let out a hysterical roar.

Before he could react, Gu Sha descended from the sky and stamped on his head once more.

Boom!

With a deafening crash, Redfeather was forced to his knees. His knees slammed into the ground, splitting the entire mountain peak with a massive crack.

“Ah! You wretched bastard! How dare you humiliate me like this!” Redfeather roared in fury.

“To hell with you!”

Gu Sha slapped Redfeather across the face, knocking him to the ground. Then he planted one foot on Redfeather’s back, seized both of his wings with his hands, and said coldly, “I told you I was going to eat those chicken wings of yours!”

Before the words had even faded, Gu Sha yanked with all his strength and tore off the Redfeather Celestial God’s magnificent wings.

Blood sprayed through the air like rain.

“Ah!”

Redfeather let out a scream of excruciating agony.

At that moment, everyone on the Taihang Mountains was struck with terror and disbelief.
